Bookkeeping Plus is an accounting and consulting firm just east of Indianapolis. Since 1987, owner Beth Marsh has been serving a wide variety of small businesses, nonprofits, government entities, and schools. The firm employs over 20 accountants and support staff in our own 7,000 sq. ft. office building. We continue to grow, and we seek experienced accountants to join our team. The Administrative Assistant /Receptionist at Bookkeeping Plus provides a wide range of services that impacts almost every function in our office in Greenfield, Indiana. This position is the center of communications, organizing, support, and overall office operations.

This is a very fast-paced office. Duties may include:

Communications and Reception

  • Answer phones and greet visitors

  • Assist clients with questions and needs

  • Manage intra-office communications

  • Manage mailings, emails, and outside communications

  • Manage calendars and scheduling

  • Route mail and deliveries


  • Maintain and update records for clients and vendors

  • Maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical

  • Scan and organize documents

  • Retrieve and file documents

  • Manage inventory of checks and office supplies

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Receive and prepare deposits

  • Download clients’ bank statements

  • Download clients’ payroll reports

  • Enter data in QuickBooks

  • Prepare annual Form 1099s

Support and Other Duties

  • Assist the Office Manager with key functions

  • Assist the accountants and other staff as needed

  • Help make sure office is kept clean, safe, and fully operational

  • Coordinate requests for IT and equipment maintenance

  • Create spreadsheets upon request

  • Coordinate meetings, events, and lunches

  • Perform annual corporate entity filings

  • High school diploma

Must-have Experience:

  • Five years in an administrative assistant or receptionist position

  • Bookkeeping experience

  • Organizational and multitasking skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Nice-to-have Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration


  • Outlook, Excel, QuickBooks, and the ability to learn new applications
