Bookkeeping Plus is an accounting and consulting firm just east of Indianapolis. Since 1987, owner Beth Marsh has been serving a wide variety of small businesses, nonprofits, government entities, and schools. The firm employs over 25 accountants and support staff in our own 7,000 sq. ft. office building. We continue to grow, and we seek experienced accountants to join our team. Most of our employees have been with us for many years, which we think says a lot about the job and the quality of life at our company. We are a 25-person multi-client firm that provides accounting services to a wide variety of clients in Indiana and other states. We continue to grow, and we need to hire full-time accountants who can do high-end work.

We do almost everything in the field of accounting except income tax returns and CPA-type public accounting. We are not a CPA firm. However, we are one of the largest non-CPA firms in the area. In our corner of the industry, Bookkeeping Plus is unique. We are also woman-owned.

 

GREAT OFFICE ENVIRONMENT

You would work at our very comfortable offices in Greenfield on the east side of Indianapolis. Bookkeeping Plus is a big believer in work/life balance, so we have normal hours of 8–5. If you need some flexibility with your schedule or even want to work some from home, that can be addressed after your training period.

DUTIES: WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK HERE

From your desk at Bookkeeping Plus, you would be working on profit and nonprofit clients of all sizes and types. You would have your regular clients as well as dynamic assignments that come up, such as the arrival of new clients. You communicate with your clients by email and phone, and you collaborate with your fellow accountants, bookkeepers, A/P specialists, and support staff.

The work is diverse and interesting, and almost every day brings something new to do or learn. Variety is our middle name!

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Financial Analysis

  • Financial Statements and Reports

  • General Ledger

  • Month-End and Year-End

  • Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Full-Cycle Accounting

  • Providing controller-type services to a wide range of client types

We don’t expect you to know how to do everything. As long as you have some serious real-world experience and knowledge of accounting theory and practice, we can show you the rest. At Bookkeeping Plus, you can go as far as your abilities can take you.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To work at Bookkeeping Plus, you need to have a love of accounting, a thing for learning, and a desire to join your new co-workers as the best in your field. Here are the qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent education and experience)

 

Must-Have Experience

  • Five years in a General Ledger position, performing a full range of accounting functions (we do not have entry-level positions)

  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely

  • Excellence in using Excel

 

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience with a non-profit organization, fund accounting, or grants

  • Preparing for your client to be audited

  • QuickBooks, plus the ability to learn new programs
