Bookkeeping Plus is an accounting and consulting firm just east of Indianapolis. Since 1987, owner Beth Marsh has been serving a wide variety of small businesses, nonprofits, government entities, and schools. The firm employs over 20 accountants and support staff in our own 7,000 sq. ft. office building. We continue to grow, and we seek experienced accountants to join our team. Responsible for performing payroll functions and inputting payroll data to be processed by third-party payroll companies.




PAYROLL SPECIALISTS at Bookkeeping Plus are responsible for providing a wide range of services that depends on the clients’ needs and desires. For payroll, some clients want us to perform all their payroll functions, while others have us prepare and input the payroll data to be processed by a third-party payroll company. The work is performed at our office in Greenfield, near Indianapolis.

This is a very fast-paced multi-client practice, with both profit and nonprofit clients. Duties may include:


  • All payroll functions and processing

  • Track payroll expenses by departments or jobs

  • Code payroll expenses to grants for nonprofits

  • Tax payments and payroll returns

  • Tax filings

  • W-2s and year-end tax reports

  • Custom or detailed payroll reports

  • Calculate timecards

  • Input into software for both payroll and taxes

  • Data entry into QuickBooks

  • Track teacher contracts for schools

Benefits Duties

  • Calculate the deductions for various benefit and deduction categories

  • Benefits reconciliation

  • Benefit reports as needed

Retirement Duties

  • Calculate, process, and pay retirement fund contributions

  • Retirement funds reconciliation

  • Generate quarterly and annual reports for retirement funds or regulatory agencies

  • Prepare census reports for TPAs and fund managers

  • Fund types include 401k, 403(b), Simple IRA, SEP, pension, etc.

  • Retirement funds for state government entities (INPRS), including teachers (TRF) and public employees (PERF)

  • Associate degree in accounting (or equivalent education and experience)

 Must-have Experience:

  • Five years in an A/P, payroll, or accounting clerk position

  • Great attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate well

 Nice-to-have Experience:

  • Experience with a non-profit organization, fund accounting, and grants

  • General Ledger experience


  • QuickBooks, Excel, and the ability to learn new applications (e.g. school software such as Komputrol)
